25th September 2008.
Drogheda Partnership, as part of their ethnic diversity programme recently organised a Trainer of Trainers Anti Racism 2 day course, with members of community groups, local schools and local employers.
The purpose of the course was to train people to deliver anti racism awareness within their own organisations. The course covered the different forms of racism and the groups affected.
Drogheda Partnership believes that we all have a role to play in combating racism and to building a more inclusive intercultural society in Drogheda.
Racism is a specific form of discrimination and exclusion faced by minority ethnic groups. It is based on the false belief that some “races” are inherently superior to others because of different skin colour, nationality, ethnic or cultural background.
Louth has the highest proportion of Black/Black African people, with 2.2% of the population, compared to the national average of 1.1% (CSO 2006)
