Drogheda Partnership Company Millennium Partnership Fund
What is the Objective of the Fund?
The Millennium Partnership Fund is available to students living in the Drogheda Partnership Company area to support their retention and participation in further or higher education.
It is available in addition to any other grants the student may be entitled to e.g. the Louth County Council or County Louth VEC Maintenance Grant.
The following supports are available under the fund:
- Financial Supports to meet participation costs
- Provision of Information e.g. guidance and mentoring
- Study Supports including tuition and study skills
The Drogheda Partnership Committee Millennium Consultative Group
The Millennium Consultative Group aim to increase participation and completion rates by members of our target groups in third level education by providing the necessary supports to ensure equality of outcome for these target groups.
The objectives of the Millennium Consultative Group are:
- To provide financial supports for specific costs to students
- To provide guidance and information regarding third level
- To provide support and mentoring to students
- To provide technical and study supports for students locally
- To support the integration, co-ordination and development of all existing services to students
- To identify the ongoing and changing needs of third level students in the area and develop responses to these needs
Supports Offered for Third Level Students
The following are some of the supports available to students in the coming academic year:
- Financial Support
- Laptop Loan Scheme (Millennium Funded students at Dundalk IT only)
- One to One Tuition
- Advice & Information
- Going to College Workshops
- Free Study Skills Seminars
- Mentoring Opportuniteis
Target Groups
The Programme is targeted at:
- People from Low Income Family Units
- Lone Parents
Other groups targeted are:
- People with Disabilities
- Travellers
- Mature Students
- Other Minority Groups
Conditions
The following conditions apply:
- Applicants must be resident in Drogheda (town boundary)
- Students must be studying at Certificate, Dilpoma, Degree or Postgraduate level in a University or Institute of Technology or a PLC course recongnised under the Higher Education Links Scheme
Expenses
Eligible expenses include:
- Registration, Course and Examination Fees
- Books and Materials
- Equipment
- Travel
- Childcare
- Subsistence
- Accomodation for students attending college in another part of ireland or abroad
- Other Special requirements
Students will be required to produce receipts for any of the expenses claimed.
A limited amount of funding is available and funding is awarded based on the needs of individuals.
