Major ICT activities undertaken by the Drogheda Partnership:

Historical Milestones:
The Drogheda Partnership commenced its stratedgy to use ICT as a tool of social inclusion in January 1999 in the creation of the post of ICT Project Co-ordinator.

  • In April 1999 the Drogheda Partnership initiated a Telework Development Centre assisted through TEP funding and set up 20 networked workstations to provide training for social excluded groups.  National and international accrediation was attained.  In the period April 1999-Nov 2001 976 trainees availed of tailored made ICT programmes.
  • In addiation funding was attained from Interreg and the Louth Enniskillen Programme was initiated.  This was a cross border ICT teacher diploma course.  There were 95 trainees on the programme who were disadvantaged, unemployed individuals residing the border countries.  The outcomes of this project were far reaching.  100% employment success.  The project was noted as a fladship of success.  The Partnership was invited by the ISC to make a presentation on the project at the launch of Ennis INformation Town and the launch of Peace Initiative.
  • In November 2001 the Drogheda Partnership secured funding as the lead agency in a community consotium.  450 applications were received and the Drogheda Partnership application was ranked 4th nationally.  The project initiated three levels of community learning.  It upskilled the level of ICT skills in the community.  989 trainees availed of training.  The CAIT evaluation committee commended the project.  We were requested by the ISC to make a presentation on the outcomes of the project in the Digital Hub.
  • In 2002, the Drogheda Partnership progressed its Telework Development Centre in a successful social economy project.
  • In 2003, 181 trainees availed of ICT programmes.
  • In 2004, 44 Outreach Programmes were initiated.  383 trainees availed of ICT training programmes.
  • From Jan-July 2005 36 Outreach Programmes have been initiated.  220 trainees have availed of tailored training.
  • Out ICT as a tool of social inclusion has been used as a topic of an ADM research paper and has featured in the ADM newsletter.  Noted as a flagship of success by Centre of Cross Border Studies, Queens University in their ICT publications on tackling digital exclusion.
