Using Information and Communications Technology as a Tool of Social Inclusion
The Combination of ICT and Life Long Learning is a key part of the Patnership's approach to education and training across all of our measures. This is actualised by strategies which:
Encourage individuals to view learning as a way of life by attempting to incorporate it into their values and culture.
Provide opportunities for individuals to update their skills set in order to increase their employmnet/promotional prospects.
Offer learning platforms that provides learning through study, experience, personal reflection and shared learning.
Encourage individuals to learn when, where and how it suits them best. Not what suits US.
Offer wide, flexible range of learning opportunities which are convenient, relevant and planned.
Ensure the learning reflects the needs, learning styles and preferences of the trainees agreed at the outset.
The aims of the ICT stratedgy are to:
Address the identified gaps highlighted in various government and ISC published reports.
Use ICT as a hook to encourage educationally and socially disadvantages clients to participate.
Provide training in the heart of RAPID areas.
Liase with the VEC to combat the literacy barrier.
Utilise laptops as the training tools.
